Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Everyone and for those in the United States, Happy Belated Thanksgiving! Today’s update is a quick recap of BGG 2014 and of course, before that some great previews!

For BGG, our manufacture and Greenbrier Games were helping us rush some great new manufacture proofs for you all to see. We brought them along with us to BGG for those interested to see, along with the full Sacred 40 in their finalized box proofs. Ready for an introduction? (Apologies for the poor image quality…. I was using my iphone with a desk lamp at my hotel at the time).

Sacred 40 Update!

During BGG, we gave the green light to begin mass manufacturing of the Sacred 40 minis. I was very excited to see the final box art and VAC trays in person, brought to us by Greenbrier Games at the convention. We’re actually pretty ahead of schedule with these and are estimating to receive inventory for these (in both the Kickstarter Exclusive color and Eternal Grey colors) sometime in May, rather than June. So we can finally cross this off our list to-do and anxiously await photos and news from the manufacture when they have them!

In the meantime, for the BGG convention that just passed, we had 5 more of our Sacred 40 characters painted and I would love to share them with you!

DISCLAIMER: The following is information about the BGG Convention we just attended. This does not have any new information about Fairytale Games: Battle Royale. If you are not interested, you do NOT have to read the following:

With that, I’d love to share with you some memories of the BGGcon 2014! Unlike GenCon, it’s more of a networking and game playing convention versus a hardcore seller’s market. I personally think it’s laid back and a great opportunity to see new games/buzz from different companies and have the chance to play lots of demos and prototypes. Overall, a great convention!

This was our very modest booth we shared with Greenbrier Games. In compilation, we ran demos for Dragon Tides, Ninja Dice, and Heavy Steam. Unfortunately, our copy of Battle Royale didn’t make it in time after a very stupid mix-up at our hotel.

Here, you can see Jeff Gracia demoing Heavy Steam for those who were amazed at the miniatures and game concept. (Do you see our Sacred 40 boxes in the back?)

For those who backed Heavy Steam, there was a crossover mini that was voted on from the Fairytale Games Universe. Greenbrier Games actually brought it along so I could snap a picture and show you all. Presenting the Spring Heeled Jack Mech 🙂

Dragon Tides was demoed about every 2 hours to anyone and everyone who were drawn into our martial arts Arcade tabletop starring Bruce and Brandon Lee!

Plaid Hat games had their showing of Mice and Mystics’s new expansion as well as Dead of Winter (which I really wanted… but still held off since Black Friday sales in America took priority.)

Many drooled over the constant demos of Imperial Assault. Me being one of them. It was really awesome to get a chance to play a little bit after seeing the advertisements at GenCon.

Heroes Wanted was there with a couple of costumed guest stars that made an appearance.

CMON was there demoing and selling several of their games. I was able to see all the extras for Zombicide Season 3 there as well.

Serpent’s Tongue was a very interesting game. I had no idea what it was but those faux leather bound spell books were pretty awesome.

This booth had a rotating group of game demos that were pretty cool. The later being a skirmish of sorts that looked interesting, though I didn’t get a chance to try it out.

iello had a few tables playing games of King of Tokyo and Zombie ’15. I saw a few people play Steam Park in the gamers’ area and they seemed to like it a lot. I was hoping Guardians’ Chronicles would be demoing but alas… maybe next time.

Black Locust had one of the better looking booths at BGG. The guys there were pretty cool.

Level99 Games had lots of things to show off. Besides demos and getting a chance to play against Brad, they were pre-announcing their December campaign for a new Pixel Tactics. I’m really looking forward to that one!

In the lobby of the main hall, there were quite a few dexterity games, mostly homemade and ready for anyone to walk up to and play any time during the convention. It was definitely a great break from the hardcore gaming.

I have no idea what this was or how to play…. I just saw flowers and porcupines 🙂

The Monkey Coconut game was a hit among the casual passerby, though I heard some of the “adults” make comments about the coconuts and what it looked like the Monkeys were throwing instead. But don’t underestimate the challenge here… I couldn’t keep it on the table!

AEG had the biggest surprise to me. I played Love Letter but…. BATMAN LOVELETTER?!?!? From what I hear, the theme is reskinned to show Batman racing to get Arkham Inmates back into Arkham before time runs out? There’s also a Munchkin one called “Loot Letter”.

After hours, many of the developers and publishers took off to play games with fans and their groups in many of the gaming areas in the convention (that pretty much lasted 24 hours each day.)

A couple of popular games were constantly checked out of the Game Library and seen in the halls. One of which was Hyperboria, which was a light Euro game in a fantasy setting.

And that’s a wrap with BGG 2014! Enjoy these photos while we start getting ready for our next update after returning from our long weekend!

Getting ready for BGG.con!

Hi Everyone! BGG.con (Board Game Geek Convention) is right around the corner and we’re getting ready for it as we speak. Just wanted to give you a quick message to let you know we’re still on track with filming our gameplay videos as well as are quickly trying to prepare the completely revised demo kit for you all. My goal is to make sure that you at least have gameplay videos to watch while you print out these demo kits. As well, I look forward to posting up more artwork and card mechanics for you all to see for discussions!

Refund Questions!

Sadly, we are still processing refunds requests. So if you have not yet received an e-mail from Melissa about whether you’ve been approved and are bing processed, have no fear. We’re a bit bogged down with them so it’s been taking some time. There are also some complicated ones as some were pledged for via PayPal, KS, Pledge Manager, etc.

Some of you who backed both Battle Royale and our Minis Campaign, please note that these will be two separate refunds in order to ensure we don’t completely mess up our system.

On the flipside, I’ve had several backers interested in picking up the abandoned pledges. We are also working on getting that ready and making it available right after the completion of the refunds. Once we’re green lit, I’ll make an official announcement.

Board Game Geek

I think I mentioned it in a previous update, but we will be sharing a booth with Greenbrier Games at the convention. We will most likely do a short raffle for some goodies once again. Those who are backers for ANY of our campaigns (this includes Martial Arts: The Card Game as well as Dragon Tides) are automatically entered. If you’re able to make it to the convention, you can enter a separate “on the scene” raffle as well. Both raffles are equivalent prizes to give those who can’t make it a chance to win something cool 🙂

We’ll also demo Fairytale Games: Battle Royale although there won’t be event tickets like at GenCon. Instead, we’ll be hosting demos at the gaming area from time to time (for an actual schedule, you can sign up at our booth!) As well, we’ll be demoing Dragon Tides and maybe more of our games. If you’re able to make it, please stop on by. I’d love to meet you and thank you in person for your support!

Ok, I’ll see you all in an update very soon., Have a great night!

New Mini WIPs….. Say Cheese!

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all are having a great week so far! Today’s update though a bit short is still very exciting. If you remember, we still have a few minis to show off, those being the cheesecake ones and the Undead Viking. So without further a do, let’s take a look at the WIPs!

As you may recall from our first campaign, these are just a teaser for things to come in the future. If we have these 3 characters again, it’ll be different poses/stylization to fit a future art theme. So consider these our “Limited” Cheesecakes 🙂

Board Game Geek Convention

In other news, if you hadn’t heard, we’ll also be attending BGG this year and will be at Booth#315. We’ll be demoing a few of our games (Fairytale Games: Battle Royale, Dragon Tides, Martial Arts the Card Game) as well as displaying some of our miniatures there (painted and unpainted). If you’re able to make it out to Dallas to the event, we’d love to see you there!

DISCLAIMER: The following is not related to the Battle Royale campaign, per se, but may be of interest. It’s an optional read.

Just to follow up from last update regarding offering Snow, Goldielocks, Hua Mulan, and Red as part of a Fairytale Angels add-on to incorporate into the Bruce/Brandon Lee tabletop game, Dragon Tides. We wanted to make use of the minis so that they could be used in yet another game, giving your minis more diversity and playability.

A lot of you are for it, but because there were about a quarter who were not, we decided against doing so. Instead, we will incorporate 4 characters from our Minis Campaign (non exclusive) to be used in Dragon Tides. Instead, they will be Brunhilde, Esmeralda, Briar Rose, and Cinderella. Included will be their signature move cards and character boards which will make them playable in Dragon Tides.

If you happen to be a backer for Dragon Tides, you will automatically receive the 24 signature move cards and 4 player boards for these 4 characters for free so you do not have to purchase them in the add-ons (unless you want extras.)

Thank you so much for your suggestions and as mentioned, the intentions for bringing this up last time was to be as honest and open to you all as I can.

Also, for those of you who are fans of Level99 Games, we are less than 3k short of unlocking Cherri Seneca from the BattleCon Universe. Here’s a link to her story and a sample of one of her cards to be used in Dragon Tides: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/682539325/return-of-the-dragon/posts/1037507
